Of course I'd put accreditation in the caption and link back to this blog.Timberpuphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02102204597775705484noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4847283425287985916.post-30213784739588509652012-04-28T19:50:44.694-07:002012-04-28T19:50:44.694-07:00Very odd that two people come across this article ...Very odd that two people come across this article on the same day!

I enjoyed the article and found it extremely informative, having only arrived at it because I was looking at pictures of leprosy. Funny how it looks just like the poison ivy I managed to give myself last summer...or maybe it was leprosy (I do live in the South...just sayin')!lizconnohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03634037549900807196noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4847283425287985916.post-70509390435929256342012-04-28T12:48:28.621-07:002012-04-28T12:48:28.621-07:00I was just watching a movie based in the middle ag...I was just watching a movie based in the middle ages. One of the characters was infected with leprosy. Having grown up hearing about the disease primarily from television or books, I jumped on my phone and was trying to find out a little more about it. I stumbled on here and truly enjoyed reading what you had written. You threw out information while keeping it humorous, kudos on the beetlejuice comment. I grew up in the Texas hill country and had been around armadillos until my early twenties. I never knew anything about them having leprosy. I'm going to move on now and read more about the disease, but now I'll include armadillos in the search..Charley Campbellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04545148547555404462noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4847283425287985916.post-23777660589647779082011-08-01T21:36:44.187-07:002011-08-01T21:36:44.187-07:00Katrina! Thanks for your comment, you're so sw...Katrina! Thanks for your comment, you're so sweet!

You're dog should be ok. I don't believe that dogs can contract the same form of leprosy that armadillos carry. There is a disease called "canine leprosy", but it is caused by a different strain of bacterium. But, its always best to double check with your vet.

As far as you having contact with the dog, I'd say it depends on whether you touched pieces of the armadillo, such as blood, etc. My guess is that you'll probably be ok, though!underthemicroscopehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17827816127207787947noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4847283425287985916.post-57587724346797791312011-08-01T08:03:00.627-07:002011-08-01T08:03:00.627-07:00haha I love the way you write! I had known for a while that armadillos were carriers of leprosy but always thought it was just a rumor. My dog just recently cut open a armadillo in our yard and i live in south Texas so i had been researching this even more lately. Do you have any advice for my dog? Will he be okay? and my family if they had close contact with the dog after the incident?katrina_reneehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07188044714367471241noreply@blogger.com
